Key Changes Nevada Enrollees Need to Know

⚠️ Enhanced Subsidies Expired

The boosted ARP premium tax credits that significantly reduced premiums since 2021 have expired as of 2026. Many Nevada residents who previously paid very low premiums will see increases. A broker recalculates your actual subsidy under current rules before you enroll.

📋 Auto-Renewal Warning

If you don't actively re-enroll, you'll be auto-renewed into your current plan — but your income estimate, premium, and network may all have changed. Auto-renewal is not the same as reviewing your options. Always actively compare before the Dec 15 deadline.

🗺 Carrier Changes in Some Counties

Carriers periodically enter or exit Nevada counties. Your current plan may have changed its network or premiums, or a carrier may no longer be available in your zip code. Verify your current plan is still available and competitive.

💊 Part D $2,000 Cap Now in Effect

For Medicare beneficiaries, the new $2,000 annual out-of-pocket cap on Part D prescription drug costs is fully in effect for 2025+. Review your Part D plan annually — the best plan for your specific medications may have changed.

When You Can Enroll Outside of Open Enrollment

A Qualifying Life Event (QLE) triggers a 60-day Special Enrollment Period. Document your QLE — you'll need to provide proof to Nevada Health Link.

💼

Job or Coverage Loss

Losing employer-sponsored health coverage, aging off a parent's plan, losing Medicaid eligibility, or COBRA expiring all trigger a 60-day SEP.

💍

Life Events

Marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or death of a dependent are qualifying events. Coverage can be added or changed within 60 days of the event.

📍

Moving to Nevada

Relocating to Nevada from another state, or moving to a new Nevada county with different plan options, triggers a 60-day SEP. Your previous plan doesn't transfer.

💰

Income Change

A significant income change that affects subsidy eligibility — gaining or losing eligibility for Medicaid, for example — may trigger an SEP.

🌐

Marketplace Error or Exceptional Circumstances

Errors by the marketplace, natural disasters, or other exceptional circumstances may qualify for an SEP. Contact a broker to determine eligibility.

📋

Gaining Citizenship or Release from Incarceration

Gaining citizenship, lawful immigration status, or release from incarceration are qualifying events that trigger a 60-day enrollment window.
